I am on roll baby!
Two blog posts in a day? Either I am super dedicated or I have nothing else to do. Anyway, I have got an amazing Movie Review for you guys. I have been planning on watching this movie for ages. Mainly because of two reasons,

A) A lot of people recommended me
B) It's so Christmas-ish and nice. I don't know if you guys feel this way but I personally feel so relaxed in the month of December. I don't really know why. Go ahead, judge me. xD

If you have watched this movie then BINGO! If you haven't then, read the review and decide for yourself if it is on your watch-list or not. ;) I can't gurantee you if this is spoiler free, although I am not sure if there are actually any spoilers?

It's basically about many lives somehow interlinked with each others examining the complexities of one certain emotion, love.

There is, Hugh Grant - Who plays the character of David, the Prime Minister of England finds one of his junior staff member, Natalie (Martine McCutcheon) attractive. A very charming cliche. Love how clumsy she is with her words.

Liam Neeson - Daniel who mourns over the recent death of his wife as he tries to raise his stepson Sam (Thomas Sangster). You guys can't even imagine how cute the moments are among father and son. I personally loved this story line the most.

Colin Firth - Jamie who is pushed to attend his friend's wedding. He comes back just to find his girlfriend (Sienna Guillory) cheating on him with his own BROTHER! My heart broke at this scene because he really seemed to love her and boy he was hurt! The dude moved straight from an incredible apartment to a cozy French cottage. Where he meets this Portugal girl and eventually..they fall for each other.

Laura Linney - Sarah and Karl (Rodrigo Santoro) both equally mad in love with each other but none of them makes the first move. They finally connect during Christmas party where they kiss. Before more could occur Sarah is interrupted by a phone call from his mentally ill brother Micheal.

Harry (Alan Rickman) is a managing direction of a graphic design company married peaceful to Karen (Emma Thompsan) until he gets aroused by Mia (Heike Makatsch) his new secretary due to her sexual comments and actions. This is where the crack starts to build up in a perfectly build wall.

I really love the character Karen because she is shown as this strong woman, who despite finding out about his husband going on the wrong track, keeps calm and handles everything perfectly.

Juliet (Keira Knightleyand Peter (Chiwetel Ejioforget married in a beautiful ceremony video filmed by Peter's best friend Mark (Andrew Lincoln) who seems all gloomy and lost during the entire wedding. Little does everyone know that the dude is in love with Juliet but can't do anything about it because he's living by the slogan, 'Brothers before others.' But he finally decides to at least confess that, like come on you gotta take it out of your chest, after all, what is there to lose? So he does, on the Christmas Eve (I think).

John (Martin Freeman) and Judy (Joanna Page) are professional body doubles for films according to Wikipidea because I couldn't really find the proper words in my head. They both meet at set during a shoot. They both are shown very comfortable with each other and carefully pursuing a relationship. How very lovely!

Colin Frissell (Kris Marshall) informs his friend Tony (Abdul Salis) that he is planning to go to America to find his true love after failing miserably trying to impress the English girls. He's convinced that his 'cute British accent' will lead him somewhere along the lines of something which starts with 's' and rhymes with fax.

Joe (Gregor Fisher), manager of the rock and roll legend Billy Mack (Bill Nighy) helps him with his Christmas song which become Christmas number one single. Billy Mack realizes how very attached he is with Joe despite the fact that he constantly insults him in public. Ignoring the lush parties on Christmas Eve, he decides to sit back and watch some TV with Joe.

Rufus (Rowan Atkinson, Our very own Mr. Bean) is a jewelry salesman who appears in two scenes (As far as I remember). According to Wikipidea, in the director and cast commentary, it is revealed that Rufus was originally supposed to be a Christmas angel; however, this was dropped from the final script. You'll understand, why and how once you watch the movie.

That's pretty much it,

Hello there everyone!

How are you all on this very fine day? Hope you're all doing great. I have something for you all. Yes, it's a graphic designing tutorial where I'll be showing (in as much depth as possible) how to colorize a black and white picture in the software, gimp.

So, let's get started, shall we?

STEP ONE:

Open the picture you want to colorize in the software. Make sure it's in HD quality. We don't want a picture which is in not so nice quality since this is our first basic tutorial. In my case, I chose a picture of Miranda Kerr.

STEP TWO:

For each part, we'll be working on different layers. Clothes, eyes, lips, skin, hair and background will have different layers. Click on layer and add a new layer. A pop up box will appear where you have check on the transparency option at the bottom. Name the layer according to the part you want to color first. I always start off by coloring the clothes.

STEP THREE:

On the selected layer, which in my case is clothes, change the mode from normal to color. Select your desired color, I am going for a light purple color which will change a bit because of the mode. Select the brush tool, from the tool box and start coloring back and forth.

STEP FOUR:

It will look something like this. Don't worry about messing up, if you do.

STEP FIVE:

Now, moving onto the lips. Again I added a new layer, named it 'lips' and started coloring it with soft brush. Make sure your mode is color and not normal.

STEP SIX:

Since I was messing up that is, accidentally coloring the skin red. I am going to select the path tool from the tool box. Path tool helps you select a certain part of your picture via the path you created. Just create a path around the lines of lips.

STEP SEVEN:

Make sure you connect the initial point with the final point. Once the path the is created, right click anywhere on the picture. Put your cursor on 'Select' and click on 'From Path'.
STEP EIGHT:

Now that on lips are selected, freely color all around the lips because it won't color outside the boundary or path you created.

 STEP NINE:

Again repeating the previous step, I added a new transparent layer and named it eyes. I googled a picture of Miranda Kerr to see her eye color. I think blue looks pretty cool. Selecting the mode, Color from Normal. I started coloring but this time I decreased the size of the brush and change the brush from soft to hard.

 STEP TEN:

Now about the teeny tiny reflection. I decreased the size of brush some more. Change the foreground color to a bit lighter than the eye color you selected and color it.

STEP ELEVEN:

Add a new layer for the hair. Again by using the Path tool, make the selection around the hair. Don't worry about not being precise about it.

STEP TWELVE:

Choose a specific color. It took me a lot of minutes to finally decide a proper color. This time I changed the mode from Color to Overlay because with Color, the right shade was just not standing out. Now just, color it all around the hair with a soft brush.

STEP THIRTEEN:

Now comes a little tricky part. Add a new layer, naming it 'Skin'. In order to not color out the eyes and lips, I used the path tool and selected everything but eyes and lips from the path. For choosing the right skin color, I used the Skin Color Chartyou can look it up on google. Now all you have to do is Open the skin color chart as a layer for a temporary time.

By selecting the color picker tool, with the color chart layer selected, pick a color from the chart and experiment around the skin. If the color suits, start coloring around the skin. In my case, with mode selected as Color, I started coloring the skin with soft brush.

STEP FOURTEEN:

Now, I know previously the skin looked a lot Orange-ish. So I duplicated the layer. This time changing it's mode from Color to Multiply. Now I have two skin layers; One of them is Color, the other one is Multiply.

Play around the Opacity of both the layers (Just below the mode), until you are satisfied.

STEP FIFTEEN:

For the background now, I thought it's better if the background compliments her dress. Therefore, I selected a dark shade of blue. With new layer selected, named as background. I started coloring it in a Color mode.

It obviously looked as though it was colored so to make it look a bit realistic. I added another transparent layer. Select the Blend tool (Gradient tool) from the tool box. The foreground colors are the same shade of blue and white. Drag your cursor center diagonally around the picture. It will look something like this.

STEP SIXTEEN:

Change the layer mode from Color to Overlay. So now I have two background layers;
One of them is simple Color mode
The other is one is made by using the Blend tool with Overlay mode.

Erase the imperfections and save your picture.

This is the end product!

The Book Thief - Markus Zusak

I had this book in my shelf for a long time, precisely, six months. I wanted to read this but every time I tried, something always came up and I had to go on a semi hiatus from reading. But once I started, there was no stopping. I would read this on my way to college. Which led to a big surprise! Are you ready for it?

For the first time ever, I was looking forward to going to the college just because of this book. At home, I wouldn't get any time to read so the only free time I had was during travelling. Quite something, isn't it?

Now, I am no expert in reviewing books/movies what so ever. I am just a bonehead with opinions which I like to express. I was very hesitant reviewing this book, nevertheless here it is.

The book thief is set in the Adolf Hitler era. It takes place in Molching, Germany near Munich between 1939 and 1943. A young girl who has witnessed great deal of agony since a tender age. Liesel Meminger, effectively an orphan who was on her way to her foster parents with her brother and mother when she witnessed the first visit of death where death engulfs her brother in it's hood forever. That's also the first time she steals a book, The Gravedigger's Handbook.

Her foster parents, Hans Hubermann and Rosa Humbermann are poor Germans with a huge heart. Liesel Meminger is taught reading and writing by Hans Hubermann and way of life and bravery from Rosa Hubermann. She becomes friends with lemon haired boy as she likes to describe him, Rudy. Rudy is a hardcore admirer of Jesse Owens and a very lively boy. I absolutely loved everything about  him.
Everything goes even until one night when a Jew shows up at their door step, Max. We are told about the old promise Hans Hubermann made to help Max's widowed mother whose husband was a good friend to Hans Hubermann. (He taught him how to play the accordian which is a beautiful element in the book).

With a Jew hidden in their (Hubermann family) basement and the crises of conflicts between the Nazis and the Jews. We are on a journey never experienced before.

It's a shame really, to review this book with my sloppy words. An unique idea of narration by none other than death itself which is humorous yet so gripping in a dark way.

An aesthetic balance.

I could not let go of this book. I did not want it to end. I wanted to know more. I wanted to know about Liesel's adult life. From beginning to end this book had me captivated in its beauty. The characters. The journey of Liesel becoming a beautiful person despite what her eyes witnessed since a tender age. A warm heart even death couldn't resist being friends with.

The relations of every character are described in a manner which I haven't read anywhere before. The richness of the description is so exhilarating in it's own way. I truly think, not everyone can write like Zusak did. It's not just a book but a piece of art. The speech of the book is at a constant ease, so natural. A thrill to know what will happen next, what has fate decided for Liesel kept me hooked till the end.

Being honest here, I felt the book was going bit slow in the beginning but now that I have finished it, I have a change of opinion. I can't express it.
A 5/5 work by Markus Zusak.

That's about it, I don't think I did any justice to the book with this hasty review but I wanted to anyway. I would like to rate this five out of five without any hesitation.

Lastly, I'd like to thank her. If you are reading,
Thank you, Alina for this beautiful gift.

I hope you liked this review. Let me know by commenting below and sharing it with people who might be interested. I am out for now. Have a great day ahead!

Choosing the right theme for the blog which matches my stupid aesthetic is the hardest part. It took me about two hours to finally decide one which by the way, I am not liking anymore! Such bamboozle!

Anyway, I have always been really bad with the intros. Do I really need to introduce? Ah.. Okay then, I'll try. (Note the keyword here is try.)

Hi,

I am an opinionated rookie who likes to ramble occasionally. I am enthusiastic about MOVIES, BOOKS and TV SERIES. (Notice my enthusiasm) I also like to design graphics and ranting about different subjects is something vital for my soul.

The sole purpose of this blog is expressing opinions which are otherwise ignored and maybe earn some money. I find absolutely no shame in admitting the truth which comes to my next point that I despise liars, hypocrites and really really hot weather.

I am really excited to explore the world of blogging. Grab yourself some hot cuppa tea/coffee/what ever drink pleases your inner self because this is going to be one hell of a blog!

P.S If you are wondering about some deep meaning behind my blog name (Shaded Larch) let me save you the trouble by enlightening you about my creative mind.

Absolutely nothing!

Until next time then,
I'll see you guys with an exciting blog post.
